Frequently Asked Questions
What domain names do you have available?
We maintain an up-to-date list of available names, which we invite you to download.
How much is domain name X?
All domains are individually priced. Prices for our generic names start at just £2,500, and 90% of our domains cost less than £10,000. Please contact us to find out more about the domain name that interests you.
How can I buy one of your generic domains?
a. We agree on a price for the domain
b. You pay for the domain (optionally through the intermediary of an escrow agent)
c. We work together to complete the domain transfer documentation
d. The domain is transferred to you
How does domain ownership get transferred?
A central organisation called Nominet regulates and processes all .co.uk domain name registrations. Nominet has a standardised, paper-based transfer process for reassigning the ownership of a domain name. Both parties to a transfer complete the relevant half of a "transfer form", which is then submitted to Nominet together with cover letters confirming their intent to relinquish/acquire the domain name. Full instructions will be provided to all domain buyers.
How long does the domain ownership transfer take?
Because of the paperwork involved, the transfer of a domain name will typically take from 2 to 3 weeks. In some instances, it has been possible to expedite transfers so that they complete within a week. This is partially dependent on Nominet's transfer workload.
Is the transfer process safe?
There are several levels of safeguards in place to protect both buyer and seller. For instance, Nominet requires signed documents from both parties confirming the intent to transfer a domain before they will authorise that transfer, as well as a copy of an identity document such as a passport or driver's license from the seller.
What is escrow?
Escrow is an optional service that buyers can select to protect themselves further. In an escrow transaction, an independent third party "escrow agent" will hold the buyer's money until the transaction is complete, and will ensure that both parties to the transaction fulfil their obligations. The escrow agent only releases the funds after they are satisfied that the buyer has received the domain. We work with a number of reputable escrow agencies. IMPORTANT: Transactions requiring escrow will incur a 10% premium.
What happens after the domain name has been transferred to me?
Once the domain has been transferred to you, it is 100% legally yours to do whatever you like with (use it, sell it, park it, etc.) You will need to renew the domain name every year to maintain ownership of it. Our involvement with the domains we sell ends as soon as the transfer process has completed.
Are there any costs associated with the domain purchasing process?
The Nominet transfer fee will be paid by MemorableDomains.co.uk. If you choose to use an escrow service, 10% will be added to the total amount of the transaction to cover escrow fees and additional administrative processing.
In what currencies can we pay for domain names?
Our primary working currency is the £. We can also accept payment in Euro or US$ at the daily Yahoo! Finance Currency Converter rate plus 10%. For example, a £2,500 transaction converted into US$ will be £2,500 * exchange rate * 1.1
What forms of payment can you accept?
Paypal (for orders up to £2,500). Bank wire transfers. Other forms of payment may be possible, on request.
